Parus Albert Schaeffer, Search for Art 4, 2022. A magnificent exhibition of works by Max Beckmann is currently on view at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. The focus is on the experiences of departure and travel as basic human experiences, which are reflected in many ways in Beckmann's paintings. He was a passionate traveler - in good times and in bad times: as an observer and connaisseur in peace, as a displaced person and exile in dictatorship and war. Parus Albert Schaeffer, In memoriam Maria Luiko, 2022. Disturbing news: An art installation by Michaela Melián in the Old Botanical Garden in Munich has been damaged by unknown perpetrators. They cut up parts of the transparent tarpaulins with which Melián covered the statue of Neptune, which was erected in 1937 when the Old Botanical Garden was redesigned by the Nazis. The tarpaulins are printed with an image of a 1938 work by artist Maria Luiko titled "Mourning woman".  "This anonymous mourning woman is now meant to cloak the vigorous male body of Neptune in the ruler's pose," Melián writes of her temporary installation.
