During the renovation of the Neue Pinakothek, the Munich Van Goghs are in exile in the Alte Pinakothek. Once again dismaying what wonderful pictures he painted and how desperate he was.

Während der Renovierung der Neuen Pinakothek sind die Münchner Van Goghs im Exil in der Alten Pinakothek. Wieder einmal bestürzend, welch wunderbare Bilder er gemalt hat und wie verzweifelt er war.

It is a longing for simplicity in a complex world.  Minimalism, which emerged in the mid-20th century, has lost none of its relevance for me. People often think of art as a representation of some aspect of the real world - a landscape, a person, an object - or as a reflection of an experience or a feeling. My paintings do not represent an external reality; rather, the viewer can respond to what they see in front of them.
